Biography
Kameron Markworth is an active bassist, composer, teaching artist, and bandleader. He can be found performing with a diverse array of musical artists throughout the midwest on both upright and electric bass. While Kameron is happy to fit into almost any musical situation, he has found a strong passion for both interpreting standards from the Great American Songbook and collaborating with contemporary artists to craft compelling performances of original compositions. Kameron has earned music degrees from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Augsburg University, and McNally Smith College of Music. Kameron is currently enjoying the rich creative energy in Minneapolis, MN, where he has lived with his family since 2013.
Teaching Artist
Kameron has been an adjunct instructor of music at Augsburg University since 2013. His primary course load consists of Jazz History along with two courses he successfully created and proposed: Popular Music History and Jazz Improvisation 101. Kameron has previously directed the Augsburg Jazz Band and Jazz Combo programs, along with teaching electric bass lessons, music theory, ear training, and music history. Previous to teaching at Augsburg University, he served as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University under the direction of the late legendary jazz pedagogue, Dr. David N. Baker. Outside of formal academic institutions, Kameron operates a small private lesson studio in South Minneapolis where he teaches upright and electric bass.
